“Self-Nurturing Isn’t Self-Ish”

It’s just who we are. We tend to the needs of others every day, all day! We love it and probably wouldn’t have it any other way. But the bottom line is we have to see about us too and in most cases first! And when we do take a moment for ourselves, we feel guilty and selfish…stop it!

In order to withstand the weight of change, especially one that is self initiated, it is helpful to have an assessment of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states.

This will help us to better identify the source when things go wrong and actually limit the possibility of “failure” i.e. when things don’t go as we expected.

Our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual state can make the difference between not only success and failure, but whether we even get our ideas off the ground at all.

Trying can be hard and success is even harder; so it’s necessary to prepare ourselves as best we can for the journey.

Making changes to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves takes time however, knowing and acknowledging that a need exists and beginning to take the steps to address those needs is everything!

So here’s my physical assessment along with specific steps on how I am beginning to address these challenges and how you can too!

Of course you’ll do this practice for every area, mental, emotional and spiritual but for time sake, I’ll only share my physical assessment. I’ll be sharing my total assessments and my progress on my instagram, if you’re interested in following along!

WHAT IS FOOD REVOLUTION DAY?

Food Revolution Day on 17 May is a global day of action for people to make a stand for good food and essential cooking skills. It’s a chance for people to come together within their homes, schools, workplaces and communities to cook and share their kitchen skills, food knowledge and resources. Food Revolution Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of good food and better food education for everyone by focusing on three simple actions – cook it, share it, live it. The first Food Revolution Day took place on 19 May 2012 with more than 1,000 events in 664 cities across 62 countries.
